So today, I finally went to pay off the winner of our fantasy football league (he actually drafted 3 defenses and still won the league...argh!!!) Anyway, I got over there about 10:30am and he still was in his pajamas and working on his laptop. Apparently, he had been working all morning before he was going in to his office later on to work all night. Randomly he asked me if I wanted a job working for him, and said I could easily make $100,000 a year. Quickly, his girlfriend (pretty close to being common-law wife) said, "Yeah, you just have to work 20 hour days like Blake!"
That whole conversation this morning, and the fact that I've been working fairly long hours recently got me thinking that I am definitely in the right job. Granted, these long hours are tough on me, Megan, and our family, but these times are very short lived. I go through spurts of a couple weeks getting slammed about every 4 months. I can live with that (heck, I'm even going to be getting a little overtime and comp time, yeah!!!). But talking to people in the corporate world and private sector, much of their life is devoted to work. Not a whole lot of time for family.
And lately, I've been complaining about work getting too political and the new management bringing changes that make no sense, but I have to realize that I am in a great situation and should be thankful for being blessed with the job that I do have. There are a whole lot of perks. I get to set my own schedule. I get to adjust my start time as needed based on...I'll leave that out. I get to work outside a lot. I get recognized a lot in the community (don't know if this is good or bad). I get good benefits. I work 9/10 of a mile from where I live.
You get the hint. I think this post was just for me to try and be more grateful in life.
